Fairyland Elementary School has proudly served the Lookout Mountain community in Walker County, Ga., since 1931, offering exceptional education for students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. My husband and all his siblings attended, as did my three sons. Now my granddaughter is leading me through halls I feel like I was just wandering through the other day.
The school’s major fundraiser is Music on the Mountain, and proceeds from this event directly impact students and educators by helping enhance facilities, advance technology in the classroom, and expand meaningful learning opportunities. There is a different theme each year, with “Wig Out” as the excuse to don a Don King or Dolly Parton wig and enjoy a fun night for a truly great cause.
Grandparents are involved this year, and Carter Kay, Kate Dyer and I are all on the committee led by Rachel Allred and Julianna Robinson, and we grandmothers are bowled over by the energy, organization and creativity exhibited by the Music on the Mountain committee, that includes Meredith Brooks, Sarah Cathy, LauraHelen Clark, Joy Lanae and Mandy Scott Marshall. This fun event will be complete with a silent auction and a live auction, a putting contest, a delicious dinner and live music performed by FES parent Jay Brooks on August 29 at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at www.motm.fairyland-school.org or by scanning the QR code on the next page.
Live auction items include a weekend trip to the mountains with golf passes at Waterfall Club and a sushi chef dinner with wine pairings. Birthday parties and camps for kids abound in the silent auction, as well as a fabulous Master’s party for adults at a private home. You’ll find everything from photo packages to sports tickets and a plethora of gift cards for golf lessons, spa treatments, restaurants and more!
It’s not too late to be a corporate sponsor! The tickets are priced very reasonably in hopes that all parents and community members will attend, and in order to do that, the committee is offering corporate sponsorships. They range from $750 for a Mullet Sponsor to the Big Hair, Don’t Care Sponsor for $2,500.
