The community movie night sponsored by Love Lookout in May was another big success. Held at the Commons, the turnout was very large, with residents and their families coming from all areas of the mountain. “Ratatouille” began around 8 p.m., which gave people time to visit, eat, play and drink. Some people packed picnics from home, and others made use of the food trucks, including Chick-fil-A, Clumpie’s ice cream, and Kona Ice.
The Love Lookout committee members gave out free popcorn, and every inch of the field was covered with blankets and folding chairs as people of all ages enjoyed playing and running around and dancing to the fun music before the movie. Lots of teenagers were there, most of whom have enjoyed this special night for over eight years. Mother Nature cooperated, and the rain held off until the movie was over and just about everyone had gone home.
The Love Lookout committee was formed several years ago to bring our small community together and enhance everything good about Lookout Mountain. The current Love Lookout committee members are Jay Brooks, Grayson Lowry, Wil Nettleton, Sarah Lehn, Ann Henley Perry, Catherine Leckenby, Carter Breazeale, Pam Salter, Trey Carr, Lizzie Currin, and Kathleen Driscoll.
Love Lookout supports both schools and both police departments of our two Lookout Mountain municipalities and regularly focuses on the beautification of the mountain, as well as activities at Thrive. Stay tuned because there are many other events planned for our community that will promote a feeling of connectivity with our neighbors.
The community movie night embodied exactly what our mountain is all about, one big family! By the way you can make donations anytime on Venmo@LktMtnPC.
