Most of the counselors from last year will be returning, including Camp Director Scott Shell, Richmond Smyth, a rising college sophomore, Reagan Barnes, who subbed last year, and Macy Chandler, who has worked at Commons Camp for over five years. Macy and Reagan will help me with the younger children; both of these counselors are exceptional with the kids and a big asset to the program.
Each Tuesday and Thursday, we order Mr. T’s pizza, but the children can always bring their own lunch if they prefer. Activities for the younger children include arts and crafts, tennis, baseball, basketball, dodgeball and many other outdoor sports. We are still firming up plans to have a tennis program on Tuesday and Thursdays, and we hope to have a tennis teacher to help the younger ones learn the game through fun activities. We should also have some special days, like water days or cookouts.
The older children play many organized games like chum ball, baseball, ping pong and water games. There’s even an end of season talent show, which is a hoot!
The children are always closely supervised, and their safety is our No. 1 concern. We are there to ensure that your child has a safe and fun experience.
Click here for the registration form, but you can always fill it out when you come by the Commons on the first day. This is definitely a drop-in kind of camp. You can pay for the whole summer, or you can pay by the day. The kiddy camp is $10 a day, or $90 for the summer, and the camp for the older children is $15 a day or $175 for the summer. If you would like to pre-register, make your check out to the Town of Lookout Mountain and mail it with the form below to Town of Lookout Mountain , PO Box 111, Lookout Mtn., TN 37350. Please note on the check “Commons Camp.”
If you have any questions, contact Scott Shell at (423) 619-4944 or me [Gwin Tugman] at (423) 718-3581. We hope to see you there and are looking forward to a great summer!
